Our Towns

Washington, located at the fork of the Tar and Pamlico rivers in an area known as the Inner Banks, offers a variety of water sports and recreation, golfing, historical sites and nature activities. It is the county seat of Beaufort County. In 2006, the estimated population was 14,830 in the city limits and 26,626 in the zip code.

Bath, incorporated in 1705, is North Carolina's oldest town. The town's location on Bath Creek seemed ideal as a port and settlement, with easy access to the river and the Atlantic Ocean 50 miles away at Ocracoke Inlet. In 2008, the town population was estimated at 268 and the zip code population at 2,269. Bath has a large proportion of part-time residents (nearly 25% of the housing units are seasonal residences) and is a summer tourist destination for both the historic site and boating activities.
